Rayagada: A tragic road accident took place at Rayat Colony Square in Rayagada town. Two bike riders were killed when they lost their balance and hit a bike road divider. Jagannath Sahi of Rayagada town and three friends of Tumbiguda area M. Anil, Anil Behera and Chin went to Siriguda on Friday night for some work. After finishing work, everyone was returning to Rayagada by bike. Anil accelerated his bike to get home as soon as it rained on the road. Anil could not see the speed brake (stop board) placed on the road for traffic control at Rayat Colony Square. The bike lost its balance and crashed into a road divider after the bike brake disc braked after seeing the speed brake very close. As a result, three friends on the bike collapsed on the road. Two friends, M.A. Both Anil and Anil Behera sustained serious head injuries and bleeding profusely, killing both on the spot. On hearing the news, the Rayagada police reached the spot and admitted the critically ill two, including Mahankud, to the Rayagada Medical College. While Anil was pronounced dead at the scene, he was rushed to Berhampur Medical College and Hospital. Rayagada police SI Vikas Patel has seized the bike and is investigating.
