Bhubaneswar, Sept 23: A delegation of the All Odisha Primary Teachers Federation on Wednesday met School and Mass Education Minister Samir Ranjan Dash and departmental secretary Aswathy S to put forth several demands regarding their salary and pension schemes.
Led by President Hrudananda Dwibedi and general secretary Amiya Kumar Dash, the delegation sought to withdraw the new pension scheme and implement the old pension scheme.
The teachers federation also wanted their salaries to be at par with that of Central government teachers.
Apart from this, the teachers demanded the primary schools be brought under the 5-T, to fill the vacant posts of teachers in the primary schools, abolish the categorization of teachers, and renovation of school infrastructure and classrooms.
The federation said that the minister had assured them to resolve their problems and meet their demands. However, they have not seen any progress yet.
The Federation President threatened that as many as 1.5 lakh teachers will take to the streets to make sure that their demands are met.
