Cold wave condition is likely to return to Odisha after a brief lull as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a fall in the minimum (night) temperature starting from today.

As per the IMD’s weather bulletin, the minimum temperature in different parts of the State is likely to plunge by 3 to 4 degree Celsius. The gradual fall in minimum temperature will persist for almost three days.

Keonjhar recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 13.8 degree Celsius on Friday night.

It is pertinent to mention here that several parts of the State experienced rainfall activities triggered by the western disturbance in the past few days. The unseasonal rain adversely affected standing crops, hitting the farmers hard in different parts of the State.

On Friday, the IMD predicted that light to moderate rain or thundershower activity will occur at a few places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Gajapati, Ganjam and Nabarangpur in 24 hours.

A ‘Yellow Warning’ for dense fog has been issued for the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Boudh, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul and Dhenkanal from January 17 to January 19, 2022.
