There will be no immediate respite from the intense cold wave conditions in Odisha with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday predicting that the chilly weather triggered by the northwesterly winds will continue in the State at least for two more days.

“Yellow warning has been issued to Kalahandi, Kanndhamal, Nuapada, Bargarh, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Angul and Keonjhar for next two days. These interior districts of Odisha will experience severe cold waves due to further dip in the minimum temperature under the influence of cold and dry wind blowing from the north-west direction into the State,” tweeted Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

The Meteorological Department further predicted that the minimum temperature during night is likely to fall gradually by three to five degree Celsius in most of the districts in the State in the next two days. However, the night temperature will rise from the end of January.

The minimum temperature in as many as 10 places in the State logged below 10 degree Celsius in the last 24 hours. Daringbadi and Phulbani emerged as the coldest places in Odisha with minimum temperature of six degree Celsius each.

While Keonjhar, Sonepur and Bhawanipatna witnessed night temperatures of eight degree Celsius each, Jharsuguda registered 8.4 degree Celsius. The minimum temperature in Koraput, Nayagarh, Bolangir and Angul was nine degree Celsius each. Boudh recorded a night temperature of 10 degree Celsius.
