Bhubaneswar, Aug 2: Fifty-seven schools across Odisha are being upgraded as higher secondary institutions in the 2022-23 academic year under the Centre’s Samagra Siksha programme to help students in rural areas who are facing uncertainties regarding admission to junior colleges.
Students will be imparted +2 Arts courses in these higher secondary institutions in 14 districts of Odisha. However, there is no proposal for +2 science and commerce for now.
The Centre has sanctioned Rs 91 lakh for the infrastructure development of each school under the programme.
Six high schools in Balangir district, four in Debagarh, eight in Ganjam, one in Jagatsinghpur, seven in Kalahandi, two in Kandhamal, three in Keonjhar, five in Malkangiri, one in Mayurbhanj, five in Nabarangpur, one in Nayagarh, four each in Nuapada and Sambalpur, and Six high schools in Sundargarh district will be upgraded as higher secondary institutions under the programme.
The secondary education department will ensure the appointment of teachers to these schools.
